If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there shall Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand shall hold me.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC MISSION -10/02 "...and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." Acts 1:8 Dear Missions Friends, As we think upon this command of Jesus to all Christians just prior to his ascension into heaven, we continue to be burdened for those who do not have a personal relationship with God through Christ, and the great need for witnesses to share His plan for redeeming mankind. Jesus also said, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore, beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest. (Matthew 9:38-39) We just returned from Barahona, a poor, small town about 3 hours southwest of Santo Domingo. It was a privilege to work again in the small clinic/hospital, and throngs clamored for physical help to the point police were asked to keep order. Their expressed desire to hear the gospel, to know there is hope, kept the local and U. S. evangelism teams extremely busy as the patients met with them as well as with the doctors, and dentist. All patients were treated both physically and spiritually. It was such a blessing to have locally trained church members, as well as our team, to share Christ! Their tiny church meets under a tin roofed pole building on a concrete slab, and they are under the tutelage of a missionary pastor from the U. S. They are so eager to reach the many crushed by the sins perpetuated from generation to generation in their land. As in many nations, families are matriarchal mothers with many children, fathered by different absentee men, struggling to survive the resulting poverty and diseases. These mothers and fathers desperately need to be reached, for only God can change hearts and sinful ways of living. Out of 588 patients treated, we praise the Lord for the 305 who made a commitment of their lives to Christ. Each name is always recorded with the best address provided. Please pray for the local pastors as they seek to find and nurture these new converts. Our great appreciation to the wonderful U. S. and Dominican Republic teams who worked so diligently to accomplish the goals God set for this mission. Our U. S. group included Tom and Ferral Burton, Betty Glasscock, Charryl Hunsicker, Tom and Holly Love, Bala and Ann Rao, Crystal Shields, and Dennis and Cathy Stafford.
